Indaleni M.S. Activities by Mademoiselle

An election of the new committee for the Mission Reserve was held on April 21, Messrs LS Mtimkulu, EV Majozi, JP Mtimkulu, F Hlongwane, FE Kunene and RL Shange were elected. In the evening Mr MA Majozi (P Master) conducted the concert that was held at Day School. Miss Sioka, Sub Leader, helped with a few items with the Wayfarers. At the Girls High School a grand party took place to celebrate Miss BS Dhlamini’s birthday. The party was opened by the Lady Principal, Miss cragg. She expressed her good wishes towards the ‘Baby’ and said very encouraging words about the whole spirit of the party celebration. The programme was opened by Master Earnest Jones, a talented organist aged 15, and dance followed.

Dresses Worn. Amongst the prominent guests were Misses MS Manqele who wore a green tight fitting frock, ankle length which gave her a carriage of distinction. MM Mayeza appeared in a pink gerogettee with a white rose for her necklet. BS Dhlamnini wore yellow (for jealousy), an ankle length frock with a frill curving from the waist line and finished with a heavy laced bottom of the same colour. BG Ngubane appeared in a blue tight fitting frock with a black velvet coattee with white fur whilst Miss LP Mabandla chose a blue crepe de chine with white spots and Miss RD Mazibuko preferred light-pink with lace ankle-length and a star necklet to tone. The lady Principal looked exquisite in a black frock with a string of red leaves and roses around a low neck.

Mr VE Majozi and Mr R Khubeka were the distinguished male guests.

The girls who always dress in black and white on Sundays, on that day formed a picturesque of all the latest shades in the fashion world. For once they were on the magic carpet and were given a glimpse into fairy land. Miss Mayeza deputized for Mr John on the Piano while refreshments were served. The party closed at 10 pm.

Page of Interest to Women of the Race

Sir, I read with interest Mademoiselle’s article on Character. After perusing the article I could not help but reflect on the important and necessity of our people knowing what character really is. Because anybody who has taken the trouble of asking people what it is, will tlel you that most peoples’ conception of it is unique and startling. The dictionary says ‘peculiar qualities of a person’. Well being a man I will enumerate what I consider to be the essential qualifications of a woman of good character. 1) she should be truthful at all times. Women as a whole are rather inclined to be deceitful. 2) she should be faithful and loyal to her lover. There is a detestable propensity among both sexes of having two or three girls or boys at same time. A girl should mix freely with either sex, taken an interest in healthy sports, attend social and welfare meetings, travel if she gets the opp to do so. And thereby gain a better and more comprehensive outlook on life. 3) she must abhor flirting and should be frank and straight forward with her friends and never encourage the intentions of a man unless she intends marrying him. ALJ Rabotapi, Brakpan.

Sir, In issue of last BW there was such an interesting article that although I am not a writer, I felt I could at least voice my own opinion on Character. Miss B Mabope, Johannesburg.
