Page of Interest to Women of the Race

To the Editress, I wonder if Miss Msomi will ever find any nurse reading any kind of paper except going to stations, parks, corners with standing boys. Miss Msomi I really support your article.Charlotte Slinger, Klipspruit.

Bantu Women Should Try Encourage each other to read. By Johannah G Phahlane. May 1 I went down to the Bloemfontein YMCA Hall to attend a meeting, was very struck and happy to see ladies devoting their leisure time to reading. I noticed that my first article in a recent issue on reading was gradually bearing fruit. I would like and wish to see our Ladies reading BW as it has competent knowledge and shows us on the Women’s Page how to carry on the work of learning many things simultaneously.

The Road To Success by the Editress (think this is RRR Dhlomo). So much has been said of remarkable progress made by African women during last 10 to 15 years. Thousands who sew beautifully and read and write in English. There are many who have become Bas, Mas, school teachers and nurses. There are some outstanding women of whom you have read in this paper. But it is not good enough! We must all work together otherwise half the nation will be clever and well educated and the other will know very little. If your husband is a clever well educated man, it is not enough just to be very proud of him. Try to learn some of the things he has learnt so that you will become his equal. You will find your home life is much happier because you will have so many things to talk about. Our nation is striving forward. We want to be a strong united people. Our religion must be our foundation and on that we must build up Education, Art, Music. We must read more. There is room for us all to march side by side and none should be left behind.

Thrilling tennis played in Natal. Amanzimtoti – Indaleni Match Full of Incidents. By Mademoiselle.

Between Primroses of Amanzimtoti and Sunbeams of Indaleni. RD Mazibuko was a Sunbeam. Description of match. Then, AMUSING INCIDENTS: The Captain of the Primroses became a torpedo and destroyed about half a dozen new balls only by hitting them, then at one time Miss Mabandla served a ball to Miss Ntombela which sent the returner’s racket skyhigh right over the net into the road across. What fun! The greatest fun is that the cars that had to fetch the team were delayed until the team all slumbered and slept on the chairs and sofas. A few kept themselves up with music.
